Malayalam literature and Kochi is very closely associated with each other. The Malayalam literature of Kochi is an integral part of the culture of the city of Kochi. Cherusseri Namboodiri is the person who gave a new turn to the Malayalam literature. He initiated pure Malayalam literature in the text Krishna Gatha in the initial part of the 15th century.
